This experience will undoubtedly be the best option for you to explore Guatemala and contribute positively to our communities!

Guacamole is part of ACD Guatemala, a non-profit organization dedicated to social development of rural areas of the Western Highlands. Led primarily by women, the organization positively impacts children, youth, women and adults through different programs focused on education, health, entrepreneurship and sustainable practices.

Through Guacamole, we support sustainable practices and preserve Guatemalan traditions through food and care foragriculture. In addition, we give importance to the vital role of women in Guatemalan cuisine. From preserving ancient recipes to pioneering sustainable practices, women play a vital role in keeping culinary traditions alive and vibrant. When assisting one of our classes, you will explore the significant contributions of women in shaping Guatemalan cuisine and culture. Guatemalan cuisine has deep roots in indigenous Mayan traditions, characterized using corn, beans, squash, and spices. Also, spanish colonization introduced new ingredients and culinary techniques, resulting in a fusion of flavors that defines Guatemalan cuisine. Fusions are served on the tables of Guatemalans enriched with meats, spices and rice. These recipes reflect unique cooking methods, creating a diverse and flavorful tapestry of dishes.

Guacamole honors traditions, remarking that women in Guatemala are often the guardians of traditional recipes, passed down through generations, preserving culinary heritage from the Mayan and Spanish Culinary Legacies. Our interest is to get you involved and share culture, skills and knowledge so you can take it to your table, share it with family and friends! Guacamole ensures the continuation of culinary traditions, and you will be part of this amazing effort!

By attending one of our classes, you will be supporting the education of young Mayan women. A big value for our communities! The funds we raise are destined for scholarship and cooking classes for young women who come from vulnerable backgrounds who seek life opportunities. Our programs support young people to become professionals and start sustainable businesses, adopting organic farming practices, preserving soil health and promoting environmental sustainability.

Our professional cooking program works hand in hand with Guacamole. Here we offer cooking workshops to young and women who are looking to learn high cooking skills to work in restaurants or start a food business. We seek to ensure that more women have economic growth and opportunities in Guatemala.
